Why most people shoot a dot better
A red dot lets you focus on the target instead of lining up three planes. For most shooters that means faster, more accurate hits.
The tradeoffs
A dot needs batteries and a zero, and it adds cost. Irons never fail. Many shooters run a dot with backup irons for that reason.
